Lookin' for a Come Up

Life + Times: The Steady Ascent of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis
Macklemore's blown up as of late. I heard sorority girls talking about him in class the other day. Whoa. This guy has become the epitome of success. His first debut album with Ryan Lewis, The Heist, hit #1 on iTunes and #2 on the Billboard 200. All their shows over the past 2 years have been sold out. And he made the XXL Freshmen cover after dropping a killer EP with Ryan Lewis.

Ryan Lewis has some great stuff in his own right and has done work with other rappers in the past. If you haven't seen/heard any of his stuff you should check out this awesome music video.

Seattle Hip-Hop has also been getting bigger lately, artists like Blue Scholars and Shabazz Palaces.

It's still bogles my mind how quickly Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have blown up. Considering all their marketing, videos, graphics, and merch are all done in house between them and their close friends is absolutely insane.

Seeing the evolution of Macklemore as a rapper is crazy. Battling an addiction to pain killers while struggling to make ends meet, the shit was real.

And then that became this:

Dude's come a long way. It's a really powerful and empowering thing to see him go from a nobody to on top of the rap-game. I'll just sign off with my favorite Macklemore x Ryan Lewis song. Later ya'll.
